Little Italia Meatballs

INGREDIENTS

METHOD

  • 250g ground beef

  • 1/4 cup plain bread crumbs

  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

  • 1 eggs

  • 2 teaspoon dried Italian herb seasoning

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 2 cans peeled tomatoes

  • 1 bay leaf

  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped

  • 3 cloves garlic, crushed

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 onion, diced

  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

  • 1 can tomato paste

  • 2 teaspoons salt

  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper

  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

  • Salt & Black Pepper

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, parsley, Italian herb seasoning, Parmesan, salt, black pepper, secret spice, garlic powder and beaten egg.

  2. Mix well and form into 12 balls. cover and store in a refrigerator until needed.

  3. In a large saucepan over medium heat, saute onion and garlic in olive oil until onion is translucent.

  4. Stir in tomatoes, salt and bay leaf. Cover, reduce heat to low, and simmer for about 60 minutes.

  5. Stir in tomato paste, basil, 1/2 teaspoon pepper and meatballs and simmer for another 20 minutes.

  6. Serve over pasta.
